SAP Analytics Cloud Publishing - An Overview
With the release of Scheduling for SAP Analytics Cloud, we have been getting questions from customers about all aspects of publishing as it pertains to:
- SAP Analytics Cloud
- SAP BusinessObjects
- Hybrid SAP BI & Analytics publishing scenarios
First of all, scheduling is only one aspect of publishing, not to be confused with bursting, distribution, collation, conditional bursting and other publishing concepts. These additional capabilities allow you to address far more complex requirements than scheduling.
You can address a wide range of complex publishing requirements with
APOS Publisher(for SAP BusinessObjects), and
APOS Publisher for Cloud (for SAP Analytics Cloud). Used together, these solutions enable Hybrid publishing for SAP BI & Analytics.
What Is Bursting?
Bursting uses bursting definitions to define who receives what personalized information, how and when they receive it, and in what format. It is a data-driven process that allows you to slice information using parameters and prompts. It allows you to generate highly flexible and customizable documents. Both APOS Publisher and APOS Publisher for Cloud have bursting capabilities.
What Is Distribution?
Distribution capabilities, especially those in the APOS Distribution Server module of APOS Publisher, enable advanced information distribution governance. What this means is that you can take advantage of enhanced destination types, enhanced encryption and security, enhanced print controls, and a greater variety of formats. APOS Distribution Server is embedded in the scheduling interface of SAP BI's BI Launchpad for organizations that have a Distribution Server license.
What Is Collation?
Collation is the ability to combine pages from different reports or stories in a single document, which a very useful way to slice information for different audiences. Both APOS Publisher and APOS Publisher for Cloud have this capability.
What Is Conditional Bursting?
Conditional bursting is the ability to set up conditions, or thresholds, and to automate responses to appropriate stakeholders when those conditions have been met, or thresholds exceeded. Both APOS Publisher and APOS Publisher for Cloud have this capability.
